The Night Before Christmas
It’s Christmas Eve. My family is already in bed. 3. Santa Claus is supposed to come with presents tonight. 3. My little brother wrote Santa a letter, asking for a teddy-bear. 4. What did I ask for? 5. It’s a secret! 6. My brother must be dreaming about dancing with the candy canes. 7. I should go to sleep so that Santa can come. 8. But, I can’t fall asleep. 9. Oh, right! My mom told me once that if I just close my eyes and count sheep, then I’ll be able to fall asleep. … 10. What’s that noise? 11. “Come on, Rudolph! 12. Let me off on this roof.” 13. Wow! Am I dreaming? 14. Oh, my! 15. I hear someone on the roof! 16. “Oh, boy! I’m stuck again! “ 17. Who? Who’s there? 18. Who, who are you? 19. “Hello, little one! “ 20. - It was Christmas Eve and Marie was waiting for her Uncle Peter. It was tradition for Uncle Peter to give Marie her presents the night before Christmas. 3. “Merry Christmas, Marie! 4. This is your present. 5. Why don’t you open it?” 6. “Oh, thank you! 7. Oh, my! 8. It’s a funny-looking nutcracker”. 9. Marie put the Nutcracker in the cabinet carefully. 10 That very night Marie woke up to some strange noise. 11. “Where is the noise coming from? 12. Mice! A bunch of mice!” 13. There were countless mice running around. 14. Even more shocking was the Mouse Queen with seven heads. 15. “ Eww, shoo, get out of here, you dirty mice!” 16. Just then the Nutcracker and other toys were jumping down from the cabinet . 17. “Friends! We must go to war and save Marie!” 18. After the Nutcracker drew his sword, the toy soldiers rushed after him, shooting their guns and sugar cannons . 19. “Come on, mice! 20. Let’s see, what you’ve got! 21. The Nutcracker soon became surrounded by the mice. 22. “Hey you evil mice! 23. Leave my Nutcracker alone!” 24. Marie threw her shoe at the Mouse Queen. 25. And then she fainted. 26. Marie woke. 27. She found herself in her own bed. 28. She tried to explain what had happened the night before. 29. However, no one believed her except Uncle Peter. 30. “Actually Marie, there’s a very interesting story about the Nutcracker.” 31. “Can you tell me about it? 32. “Long, long ago, the Queen of Mice hid in a royal palace. 33. One day she lost her seven sons to a trap / that the King had ordered to be placed. 34. “How dare you kill my innocent children! 35. For this your princess shall suffer, too!” 36. The Queen Mouse cast an ugly spell on the princess. 37. The princess could only reverse the spell if she could break open the hardest nutshell. 38. And that’s where the Nutcracker Prince came in. 39. “Dear princess, I can reverse your curse”. 40. As soon as the Prince broke open the shell, the princess became beautiful again. 41. However, the spell transferred to the Prince and made him ugly instead. 42. Easily forgetting what the Prince had done for her, she chased him off. 43. After hearing the story, Marie started to believe that her ugly Nutcracker was the Prince in the story. 45. “If that was me, I would have married the Prince. 46. After all , he reversed that spell”. 47. The very next morning a handsome boy came to Marie’s house. 48. “Excuse me, but who are you? “ 49. “Good morning, dear Marie . 50 I am the Prince of Toy Land. 51. Because of your genuine love my curse has been lifted. 52. Will you marry me, Marie?” 53. “Yes, I will!” 54. So, Marie became the Princess of Toy Land and lived happily ever after with her Prince.
